The flight suit coverall is lightweight and durable, constructed for maximum comfort in and out of the cockpit. Due to the high quality and performance of these flight suites, they are the top pick of the U. S. military as well as many civilians who work in jobs that expose them to heat and flames.

Does the CWU 27/P Flyers Coverall meet specifications for all armed service branches?

Our flightsuits are sewn to Military Specification FNS/PD 96-17 (MIL-C-83141A) and approved for use by all branches of the military

When is use of the CWU 27/P Flyers Coverall specified?

The coverall should be worn for any military or civilian situation in which an individual is at high risk for fire or exposure to weapons that can burn the skin. The Nomex® fibers do not melt when exposed to high temperature. They form a self-extinguishing, protective layer when removed from flames. This layer resists abrasion and retains the majority of its pre-burned strength.

What is Nomex®?

Nomex® fiber is a trademarked product of DuPont. Due to its unique structure, it can withstand temperatures of up to 752 degrees Fahrenheit (400 degrees Celsius).

What are the characteristics of the CWU 27/P Flight Coverall?

The Nomex® III and IIIA cloth that make up these suits prevent flames from burning through for up to 10 seconds. The unique combination of fibers prevent build-up of static electricity that can cause additional risk of fire or explosion in certain situations. For cold temperatures, the flight suits provide an insulating effect. The solid brass zippers are highly durable, which expands the life of these flight suits beyond many other products.

What clothing should be worn under the flight suit?

The coverall is designed to be worn over other clothing, which should be made of natural fabrics for maximum protection. Exposure to high temperatures causes synthetic fabrics such as polyester and acrylic to melt, which can rapidly burn the skin due to heat transfer - even when the Nomex® flight suit is not burning. Layers of natural-fabric clothing worn beneath the CWU 27/P flight suit is recommended to provide layers of air that insulates the skin from intense heat.
